National Careers Week

3rd - 8th March 2025

National Careers Week - w/c 3rd March - a celebration of careers guidance and careers education across the UK. The aim is to provide a focus for careers at an important stage in the academic calendar, to help raise aspirations and show students how learning links to the world of work. Follow our week on the socials to see what’s happening across SNA Careers.

To kick off NCW25 Mrs Caunt welcomed industry expert Richard Twiner from the Prison Service, who gave an insightful lecture to Year 12 and 13 students about his career journey as a Forensic Psychologist and the wider careers available for those with a passion for the social sciences. The Careers Café at lunchtime reached out to students in Years 7-11, and took a deep dive into Forensic Psychology and Forensic Science. This included the study required for these pathways and the wider collaboration with other agencies once in the role.

SNA Pathways Year 8 students enjoyed a business insight with Mrs Caunt. The programme helps with raising aspirations and building positivity as well as raising the awareness of career support and post 16 opportunities. Students enjoyed a variety of work-related activities and networked with business associates. An engaging morning at one of Nottingham’s top employers.

It was a pleasure to host the University of Nottingham Vet School, who offered an insightful talk about Veterinary careers, degree routes and wider careers working with animals. Students were keen to ask lots of questions and take part in mini activities. Unfortunately! Dennis the dog couldn’t be present so we improvised!
