UCAS information

South Nottinghamshire Academy have a number of experienced UCAS trained advisor and reference writers who will support the Year 12 and 13 students throughout this time. Students begin their UCAS applications in the final weeks of Year 12. This is where students decide which course they would like to apply for. Visits to universities are encouraged in the summer term of Year 12 and we host a number of visits from university representatives as well as holding finance and UCAS evenings for parents.

In September of Year 13, students write their personal statements. These are then edited and returned to students. It is expected that all students will complete a personal statement, whether applying for university, jobs or apprenticeships by October half term. Support is provided by the Trust, Tutors, Head of Sixth Form and Assistant Head Teacher for Oxbridge, Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary early applications as well as all other applications.

After half term, the finishing touches are made to the UCAS application process. A fee of £24 is paid to UCAS, teachers add their references and students begin to receive their offers and invitations to interview.

The remainder of the year is focused on gaining the right results to ensure that students are on the right courses for September.

Final decisions and confirmation of places are made in August on results day.
